Our family is very excited to be serving churches in Central and Western Kansas!

Kris and I have been married for 17 years this past May. We were both raised in Ohio and have lived in Ohio our entire lives before making the move to our current home in Newton, Kansas. We have four children: Ben (15), Emily (13), Megan (10) and Katie (8). Before becoming an Awana Missionary, Mike worked at Nationwide Insurance for 23 years. Kris has been a stay-at-home mom and part-time attorney. We had the privilege of being introduced to Awana in 1989. Kris served in our Awana Club back in Ohio for 15 years, first as a Sparks leader and Sparks director, and then the last 12 years as club secretary. Mike served in Awana for 14 years as commander. We both served on the Southern Ohio Ministry Team for two years.

We began serving as Awana missionaries in September, 2004. God has shown Himself to our family in so many wonderful ways as we have been obedient to the calling to full-time service in Awana and His leading us to relocate to a different area of the country. We are often humbled as we see how God is working through us to share the Awana Ministry with churches in Central and Western Kansas. His timing, His plans and His location are always perfect! We look forward to serving and strengthening churches as they reach their communities for Christ through Awana.

Our Ministry Verse:

"Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct thy paths." Proverbs 3:5-6

Our Mission:

To introduce the ministry of Awana to local churches, equipping them to impact their community and the world for Christ. Helping churches to..."Reach boys and girls with the gospel of Christ and train them to serve Him."

Our Passion:

We share your passion to reach children and youth, and their families, with the gospel! In addition to supporting your local Awana club, we are also advocates of children's ministry at the local church level.

We will fulfill this role by:
  • Proclaiming the gospel of Jesus Christ
  • Advocating children's ministries by being a resource to pastors and church leaders
  • Starting, training and supporting local Awana clubs across our territory
  • Recruiting, training and mentoring volunteers and lay leaders in local churches
  • Providing leadership for running events including AwanaGames, Sparks-A-Rama and Bible Quizzing

Our Support Needs:

 Awana missionaries are 100-percent faith supported, which means we must raise all the funding for our ministry and living expenses. We are completely dependent upon the gifts of God's people to meet our living and working expenses.

We sincerely appreciate and thank God for each and every church, family, and individual who help to meet our support needs. We count it a great privilege to be your Awana Missionaries. If your church is supporting us, we thank you for deeming us a worthy ministry to invest in.
